Climate Casino is an urban game based on the classic roulette setup. It is inspired by the heatwaves and other weather anomalies caused by the escalating climate crisis. The game explores a playful way to feel the changing climate and become conscious of varying microclimates in different locations around you. Instead of a randomized ball like in roulette, players bet on the current amount of CO2, the temperature and the humidity in the public space where the game is being played. Each round, a card determines what exactly is measured (temperature in sun or shade, CO2 inside a busy café or next to a car, humidity above a fountain…). Players use their own experiences and sensations to place their bets. An objective measurment determines the payouts.
